Tasmania’s history is plagued by the dreaded temperance of powerful people, most notably Governor John Franklin who presided over the Distillation Prohibition Act of 1839. Thankfully these dark days are long behind the distillers of Tasmania, with a meteoric rise in the presence of distilleries and production of delicious new make spirit. A whisky not to turn you to swine, but a much better use of barley than pig feed.
